真は、パノラマやジオラマといった当時の新しい見世物から発生してきた事情も見逃すことはできない。従って当初からカメラ・アイは物見高く、かなりのところスキャンダラスなものだった。戦争、冒険、犯罪、スラム、そしてサーカスや遊園地も、すべて絶好の題材となった。しかし考えてみればこの作者のように、遊園地ばかりをコレクションした写
真家は、他に思い浮かばない。
それにしても遊園地ブームである。都市に祝祭の場がすっかり姿をひそめ、替わって遊園地が続々現出しはじめた。いまでは、このフィクショナルな空間がすっかりハレの場となった感がある。ここには神に替わってさまざまな仕掛けが待ち受けており、財布さえ気にしなければ、結構ハレの一日を虚しく楽しむことができる。それでよいのだ。
しかし、いまや都市自体の仕掛けの方がはるかに多彩
で、スリリングだと私には思えるのだ。そこに気づいたこの作者は、目下、都市のインスタレーションに挑戦中で、これらのシリーズは、その序章というべきか。とりあえず、この作者は遊園地の人混みにまぎれて、パノラマ的に楽しみつつ眺めているのである。そしてまぎれもなく、遊園地は彼女のコレクションとして収まっているのだ。遊園地を写
